BALKAN LITERATURE AND BEYOND
- On Monday, we will finish our haiku presentations.
- You may submit your haiku for publication in Soundings for extra credit after I have viewed it.
- For Monday, bring in a modern image (e.g., an ad, a place, a text, etc.) that evokes a Greek mythological image.

ENGLISH 9
- On Monday, September 18th, be ready to present your memorized haiku. Please see attached link to Elemental Haiku: http://vis.sciencemag.org/chemhaiku/
- After you present, submit your haiku via email to me at ginny.light@yahoo.com. You will be graded as follows:
50% haiku (writing - 5/7/5 syllables - theme - on time - revision)
50% haiku presentation (memorized - recited in a clear, articulate manner - expressiveness - appropriate body language - audible)
- You may submit your haiku for publication in Soundings for extra credit after I have viewed it.

BRITISH LITERATURE
- On Monday, September 18th, be ready to present your memorized haiku. Please see attached link to Elemental Haiku: http://vis.sciencemag.org/chemhaiku/.

- For Monday, look at the authors on your syllabus and in your textbook. Which of them looks most compelling to you?

ENGLISH 10
- You may submit your haiku for publication in Soundings for extra credit after I have viewed it.
- On Monday, we will have a quiz on Charles Dickens' David Copperfield. You should be familiar with: 1) characters; 2) setting; 3) conflict; 4) plot; and 5) themes.
- After your quiz, you may do SSR (Sustained Silent Reading). Please see the attached SSR guide.

AMERICAN LITERATURE
