Dear T-D Family:
T-D’s October calendar lists a good number of daily events yet it lacks more than are written on your screen.
Throughout the year several upper schoolers (over 20) will be meeting with Lakisha Grant, T-D’s Model Youth United Nations coordinator. Obviously our goal is to represent Argentina in a world forum context. Early in March 2013 youth from around the world will gather in the Big Apple for a four-day three-night conference. It should be an excellent opportunity for T-D’s young ambassadors to practice their diplomatic skills in a world class setting.
Beginning on Tuesday, October 9th and extending through Tuesday, December 11th there will be classes in art with jewelry making, mosaics, and painting for students from grades 3 on up. Almira Bubesi, T-D’s artistic world language teacher, is presiding. The entire session is available with a $180.00 fee for the classes and supplies. Register early as the Art Studio accommodates less than usually subscribe.
Almost all of the Irish visitors are already placed and only a few have yet to be adopted. Please contact T-D a.s.a.p. should you want to go green from October 25th through November 5th.
I’ve got tickets to a four-team b-ball tourney at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn in mid-November. Tix are $35.00 each and available with a check. Florida State, St. Joe’s, BYU, and Notre Dame are on the card.
Tomorrow night two of T-D’s finest Italian students from the middle and upper schools will be honored at the Westchester County Executive’s Proclamation Ceremony sponsored by the Sons of Italy. Both Megan Leichtman and Patrick Collins are T-D recipients.
Juniors will be taking their PSAT’s at T-D on Saturday, October 20th starting promptly at 9:00 AM. The fee is $50.00. Sophomores are invited and seniors can also sit for this “pre” SAT test. All students must register in advance and there will be no walk-ins this year. There are a limited number of exams, so sign up early and don’t miss out!
Hope you call can keep up with me, I’m almost dancin’ as fast as I can,
Douglas E. Fleming, Jr.
